Be careful what you wish for
What a night last night was. For a while I felt like people were just angry at the Democratic Party, but from the looks of it, it’s really just turning out to be quite a thoughtless annihilation. Delaware just elected a madwoman, yes I said it! She is totally delusional and even the Republican party leaders do not believe she is electable and question whether they will be investing in that race.
This just makes me wonder… what in the world are people thinking this year??? Republicans knew they were going to pick up this seat, but after last night, even Karl Rove has written it off. I, however, am not that quick to write her off since she shouldn’t have even won last night!! I just don’t get what’s going on in the minds of the American electorate. If people are interested in changing the direction of the country (and the party heading it), please elect viable, qualified, mainstream and logical Republicans? Republicans that would be more “middle of the road” and in sync with the majority of the electorate?
I really think it’s time for people to wake up and smell the roses. I’m not saying vote Democratic or Republican, but THINK before you vote. IF Christine O’Donnell wins in November, she’ll be there for SIX years. I’m just sayin’…

So, people need to vote on electability over principle? Haven’t the Republicans done that for the better part of the last 15 years (ie. McCain, Spector, Snow)? That’s work out well for them, I mean, they hold power in both houses now… oh. Right. Nevermind.
I honestly don’t know anything about O’Donnell. But you call her a madwoman… why? Because she’s religious and uses that as a basis for her views on sexuality? Writing someone off as “crazy” because you disagree with their principles doesn’t seem to be a way to foster healthy debate. You and I don’t agree on much politically, but that doesn’t prevent us from being friends and participating in our system civilly.
The one thing I can say about the primaries yesterday (and the NY Gubernatorial race seems to lend credence to this) is that, at least on the conservative side, are voting on principle this time around, rather than simply on electability.
If it harms them, rejoice. If it helps them. Then debate then on their positions. The pointless personal attacks are why people who WOULD be GOOD candidates stay as far away from politics as they can. *Especially* on the Conservative side where families are as valid a target as the candidate themselves.
Don’t believe me? The last several presidential elections are proof positive: compare how the families of Obama and Clinton were treated compared to Bush and Palin. I don’t care what side of the aisle your on, you deal with the candidate and their message.

The candidate and her message is why I think that she is delusional. The lady is against masturbation, sex education and thinks that it leads to venereal disease, believes that gays can be cured from the gay. She has no job and her own former campaign manager says that she uses campaign money to pay her rent and bills. This is the third time that she runs for the senate in the last five years by the way. Oh she also thinks that condoms lead to STDs. She is sooo far off mainstream.
Castle on the other hand, was a Congressman that reached across the aisle to get things done. As a lobbyist i will tell you that I’m very concerned about people electing people with “principles” which just means that they are extremist. John McCain lost not because he reached across the aisle, but because he abandoned his maverick nature. He was in favor of gay rights in ’99, not so in ’08, was in favor of immigration reform before he was against it… the list goes on and on.
So long as people keep getting rid of middle of the road candidates on both sides of the aisle we will end up with gridlock and bitter partisanship that just divides this country. Politicians will continue to put politics before the people.
One more thing… I’m sorry but the rhetoric in these “tea parties” about Obama is sickening. As I stated in the midterm madness entry, our President is not a foreign born muslim comrade…. It’s the Tea Party that is doing all these ridiculous personal attacks.
That said, I’m against both extremes. I want government that works… not these loonies running around on both sides of the aisle. It just happens to be that this year the Republicans seem to be the ones with the most locos.

Hell it’s going to take me 30. Didn’t pay his taxes, and yet Tim Geithner was appointed as the TREASURY SECRETARY by Obama. Haven’t heard anyone on the “left” side of the aisle complain about that. Want to be critical… fine. Be consistent.
OK. Point to you. She still campaigns on so-called moral issues and is endorsed by Sarah Palin. Nuff said.

I’ll just rejoice in another long-held R senate seat going to the Democrats this November.
Oh, and did I mention she also doesn’t believe in evolution?
